As Chargers – students, faculty and staff – we are stronger together and move forward as one community. Our values and our actions are more important than ever as we navigate the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and work as one to safeguard our community.
We are called to adapt to challenging circumstances and embrace change to protect ourselves and one another. Our current extraordinary times require that each of us take responsibility for ourselves and each other. We must practice simple, common sense safeguards to maintain our individual, and collective health and safety.
As a member of the SBC community, students, faculty and staff PLEDGE to…
Daily self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek medical attention should symptoms develop.
Wear a facial covering when in a public indoor space, including the classroom, or anywhere on campus— including public areas of residential facilities or outdoor spaces— where social distancing cannot be maintained.
Wash hands with soap and water frequently for at least 20 seconds. Keep a personal hand sanitizer at the ready. Maintain appropriate (6 feet) physical distance from others whenever possible.
Make an effort to stay up-to-date on all vaccines, including the flu vaccine.
Stay at home if you feel ill or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
Self-quarantine for 10 days if directly exposed to COVID-19, or 5 days if vaccinated and no symptoms.
Seek personal COVID-19 testing if exposed or symptomatic.
Support contact tracing by reporting to SBC if I contract COVID-19 (information will be kept confidential) and responding to related phone calls and emails.
Avoid gathering in large groups that may put myself and others at risk.
Follow procedures and signage posted across campus.
Clean shared surfaces when possible, including but not limited to desks and seats in classrooms.
Refrain from having personal guests on campus.
Limit unnecessary personal travel.
Students, Faculty and Staff understand we are each an important part of the SBC community and share responsibility for keeping our campus healthy and open.
Information regarding COVID-19 is constantly evolving and SBC may need to adjust policies and procedures to best support the health and safety of our community. Students, Faculty and Staff are responsible for educating ourselves on SBC policies and procedures and for meeting any particular expectations required of me in my specific role in the SBC community.
Green is the lowest level of emergency operation. This level encourages handwashing and proper hygiene, as well as proper cleaning of personal work areas in addition to the standard protocols.
Yellow represents an enhanced threat. This level encourages social distancing and requires masks for all SBC indoor facilities, in addition to the standard protocols.
Purple represents a heightened COVID-19 threat. This level requires social distancing, masks for all facilities, altered classroom and employee working patterns, and limited access to campus for students, faculty, staff, and visitors in addition to the standard protocols.
Red represents the highest level of COVID-19 threat. Level Red would require all in-person operations to stop, in addition to the standard protocols.
